Research on the Archipelago
International research on Soqotra includes the study of terrestrial and marine life, focussing on biodiversity, of both flora and marine and terrestrial fauna. Other research interests are the Soqotri language, island history, cultural transformation and ecotourism.Friends of Soqotra supports researchers through networking and data sharing. Raw data may be deposited on the FOS website for use by other researchers. Currently data on the bird population of the Soqotra Archipelago (R. Porter and A.S. Suleiman) are stored here.
